On March 27 and 28, the acclaimed Works & Process at the Guggenheim is celebrating one of America's foremost living composers, VCCA Advisory Council Member David Del Tredici. Choreographer Lynne Taylor-Corbett has been commissioned to create a brand-new work set to Del Tredici's Grosse Tarantella. The Young People's Chorus of New York City will sing Del Tredici's Four Heartfelt Anthems. Afterwards, Del Tredici will participate in a moderated discussion. It will take place in the Guggenheim's Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Peter B. Lewis Theater. For more information, click here.

Five VCCA Fellows Awarded VMFA Fellowships
Five of the eighteen Virginia artists receiving VMFA professional fellowship awards are VCCA Fellows! We are particularly proud because VMFA had a record number of applicants this year - 642. Congratulations to:

VMFA Fellowship Awarded to VCCA Artist-in-Residence David Garratt
On Friday, February 18, VCCA's own artist-in-residence, David Garratt, will be one of 18 artists in Virginia - and one of only two sculptors - awarded an $8,000 professional fellowship by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The 2011-2012 awards mark the 71st year of the VMFA Fellowship Program, and the 75th anniversary of the museum. According to Director Alex Nyerges, "We are grateful to the late John Lee Pratt for establishing this VMFA endowment that makes this support possible, as well as others who have added funds to the endowment throughout the years."David has been a VCCA artist-in-residence since 2007.
