Peggy Baggett Receives Leadership in the Arts Award

On Saturday, January 8, Suny Monk presented Peggy Baggett, executive director of the Virginia Commission for the Arts, with a much-deserved Leadership in the Arts Award "for her dedication and inspiring leadership in the arts of Virginia for over three decades and eight governors." Peggy was unaware that VCCA was planning to give her this award when she came to their 40th Anniversary Celebration - so it was a big surprise! Congratulations, Peggy! Sally Mann Receives first Mt. San Angelo Award

At VCCA's inaugural 40th anniversary event at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, board member Alex Nyerges, director of the VMFA and host of the event, presented the premiere Mt. San Angelo award to Sally Mann. A longtime member of the VCCA advisory council, Sally's groundbreaking work has made her one of Virginia's most celebrated contemporary artists. Her exhibition, The Flesh and the Spirit , will be at the VMFA through January 23. Stay tuned for more photos from the January 8 gala!

VCCA Is Making News In Richmond!

The first in VCCA's series of 40th anniversary celebrations is this Saturday, January 8, at the beautiful Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond - and the city is buzzing! VMFA is one of the top ten comprehensive museums in the country and their director, Alex Nyerges, wrote a glowing Op-Ed about VCCA for the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
