VMFA Fellowship Awarded to VCCA Artist-in-Residence David Garratt

On Friday, February 18, VCCA's own artist-in-residence, David Garratt, will be one of 18 artists in Virginia - and one of only two sculptors - awarded an $8,000 professional fellowship by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The 2011-2012 awards mark the 71st year of the VMFA Fellowship Program, and the 75th anniversary of the museum. According to Director Alex Nyerges, "We are grateful to the late John Lee Pratt for establishing this VMFA endowment that makes this support possible, as well as others who have added funds to the endowment throughout the years."

David has been a VCCA artist-in-residence since 2007. The ceremony will take place at the General Assembly in Richmond followed by a luncheon at VMFA. Congratulations, David! (IMAGE: "Chronicle" life-size, fired clay sculpture by David Garratt.)
