Fellows Bigelow and Berran at Reynolds Gallery
Opening on September 12 at Richmond’s Reynolds Gallery is Likely Places, an exhibition of Isabel
Bigelow’s new paintings.
The title refers to Isabel’s habit of repeated visits to
locations that have inspired her. While her work is based in nature, she
abstracts and distills it, creating pared down, lyrical works featuring one
lush hue and one subject: trees, leaves, a fence. These fragmentary glimpses aren’t
likenesses, but instead suggest the sensual effect of nature.
Reception for the artist, 7:00-9:00 PM. There
will be a Coffee & Gallery Walkabout with Isabel on Saturday morning
September 13, 10:30-12:00. Through October 31.
Opening the same night at Reynolds, Taking Off: Hot New Painters, a group show will feature new paintings by Patrick Berran, along with Conor Backman, Elizabeth Gilfilen, Nicole Mauser, and Amanda Valdez. With roots in American modernist and post-modernist painting these artists are adding their own spins, to produce innovative paintings for the 21st century. http://www.reynoldsgallery.com/media/isabel-bigelow-6/
