Strayed continues to attract media attention for the movie Wild based on her bestselling novel by the same name. The book,
which caused Oprah to reinstitute her book club, recounts Cheryl’s redemptive
solo hike along the Pacific Crest Trail following the death of her mother.
Starring, Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon, who was also its producer, the film has been widely hailed and was recently featured at The Virginia Film Festival just up the road in Charlottesville.

also had a bit part in the movie as the woman who drops the character Cheryl
off at the beginning of her journey.
